I just purchased a hunter42 passage, and I am trying to figure out how to dump my waste tank. Water is coming back up in the foward and aft heads. I tried running the masarator, but that did not seem to accomplish anything. What should I do. Is there a fuse panel on my boat?

If the macerator runs, but isn't pulling any waste out of the tank, the thru-hull is prob'ly closed. If waste is also backing up into the toilet, there's a good chance that the tank vents are blocked, which also prevent any waste from being pumped out or dumped. So the first step is: make sure the vents are open before trying to either one again. Why haven't you just gone to a pumpout if your tanks are full and you can't figure out how to dump 'em? My next question is, WHERE have you tried to dump the tanks? 'Cuz it's illegal to dump a tank within 3 miles of the nearest point on the whole US coastline...which means, if you've tried to dump 'em in the bay, you've been trying to dump 'em illegally. And that can cost you BIG bucks in fines if you're caught. I suggest you check out the link below.

Hi John, would it be better to pump out your...

tank than dumping it overboard? The main fuse/breaker panel for the boat is at the nav station. There are other fuses/breakers in the boat associated with other systems. The breaker for the heads and macerator are also at the nav station. We've had our 1991 P42 for over a year now and I think I can help you with many of the systems. There are also several articles in the archives specific to the P42. Did you have your boat surveyed before you purchased her? What kind of holding tank does she have...aluminum, SS?
