An enemy RPG couldn't stop him and neither did losing his self steering, rudder, dismasting, and abondoning ship in the middle of the Pacific.
True that they both slowed him down a bit, but he is ready to head out across the Pacific again. I have enjoyed following Ronnie's story on his website. He is one of those guys that doesn't let fear, finances or circumstances hold him back from anything. The kind of guy I'd be if I had more money and better circumstances and wasn't so scared.

Hopefully, his benefactor's boat is well insured, given Ronnie's track record.

His previous attempt at crossing the Pacific struck me as ill-advised, ill-prepared and vain—he timed his departure not to make a weather window, but to make sure he could make the evening newscast. The money he spent on HD video equipment would have been better spent on getting the boat surveyed and properly prepared for his crossing.

This is one I WON'T be following, has Darwin Award written all over it!
(I do like the Dale Earnhardt #3 on the bow though!)

Well

From what i see on his sight there going through the boat keel to rig AND it seems to have everything in place for a EMG rudder

And the boat will get a saftey and equmient check to be allowed to race

No one even bothered to read his site to see what kind of sailing he has been doing or how they are preparing the boat. They just remember he was impatient to start sailing across the ocean and didn't do the correct preperation.
Do you think he can never be a good sailor because he did that? I'll be sure not to tell of the stupid things I did in my past, or I will most definitely withstand some harsh words and ridicule.
What does that even mean "he timed his departure for the evening news, not a weather window"? That doesn't make sense. You can leave on any day of the year and still make the evening news.
