well, now that the new year is upon us and spring is right around the corner, it is time to get the motor running on the 3rd annual O'DAy Owner's "rOnDAYvous" here in the North East. This year the get together will be somewhere on LI Sound. The "planning committee" has narrowed the choicers down to 3 locations and I'd like to get input from you all. First, we thought about all the options a group of sailors would want, and the type of ammeneties you all would want. We though of going somewhere remote and anchoring in some bay (Port Jeff/Seatauket) but there will be owners who want to come for the weekend who will not have their boats. Therefore they need to be within a short drive to hotel or highway to get home. We also thought about Mystic/Newport/Block Island, and although all three of these places would be a great place to go for a rOnDAYvous, we felt that a more centralized Sound port would get more O'Day Owners to attend ( I believe at least 2 boats..including myself...) will be heading to Block Island immediately after the rOnDAYvous,if anyone elses to continue the vacation trip) So, with this in mind, look over our 3 choices, and let me know wheat you think. If there is somewhere else that we have overlooked, let us know. (with valid reasons such as great shopping/pool/things to do/see/great ammeneties at marina.....)Location #1 - Captain's Cove Seaport in Black Rock Harbor (Bridgeport CT.). It seems to have everything we would want for the rOnDAYvous....nice slips, showers, restarant, bar/night club, boardwalk, live entertainment, some shops/stores, easy access to the sound for day sails, catered dinner Location #2 - Milford Landing Marina, Milford CT. - nice setting, large marina with large # of transient slips, showers. Shopping, large town "green" with free shuttle service into town, fishing/shellfishing (if you're interested) possible raft up in the Gulf, barbeeque area, tennis courtsLocation #3- Ceder Island Marina, Clinton Ct.- beautiful harbor, lots of transient slips, swimming pool, Hammanassett (sp?) State PArk a short distance away, Shopping Arcde, picnic area, we'd like to have the location nailed down as soon as possible so we can start preparing and getting the word out.....feel free to email me at maestro73@optonline.net if you have any questions.Regards,Mike CO'28 "Da Capo"
