An answer to a recently posted question of mine made reference to a Rolly Tasker sail. I assume this is a low priced brand of sail. Could anyone enlighten me? Thanx in advance. garyg

Tasker

Rolly Tasker is an Aussie who has been making sails for years. He moved his operation to Thailand years ago to get cheap labor. They use mostly American cloth and thread and some Aussie materials and are computer cut. They have franchised out their marketing around the world, of which one is National Sail here in the States. I have two friends who ordered from Tasker for which I measured the sails and to be honest the sails set very well and seem to be holding just fine. Make sure that you measure at least 3 times and know the size slugs you want. In my opinion these are sails for cruising so if I was going to race, I would go with another sail maker. By the way, I am aware of a couple of smaller sail makers who once they take the measurements, they order a pre-cut sail and sew it together. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the kits were made by Tasker. B

Still in Australia

They still build sails in Australia. But cruising sails are not only what tehy make. They also build racing sails, spinnakers, flags and magnificent shade structures

O'Day Experience

I owned an O'Day 20 before my H23. I purchased a main and jib from Rolly Tasker for the O'Day and a main for my H23. Crisp, clean, beautiful and pretty cheap. I'm on inland lakes so I don't know how they would hold up in a blow off shore but they have served me well in winds up to 20+... and after a two full summers the O'Day sails were still crispy and beautiful with no signs of wear on the seams. I just got the new main for my H23. Can't wait to hoist her. I did spread it out and looked it over. Looks great!

Happy With Tasker

I bought a Tasker Main from National Sail Supply. I was able to buy a tri-radial cut racing dacron main for the price of a standard main from cruising direct. The sail had many extras too: cunningham, flattener, 2 full battens, xtra roach anddraft stripes at no xtra cost. I am extremely pleased with the sail. It was delivered in less than three weeks. I plan to order more sails from them as they do offer mylar sails. Great Value!
