Ours is a Cruising Design....it has held up since 1987 but I've paid attention to it and worked on it several times...Is yours in trouble? The company is still producing furlers and does offer up-grades to the original model we have....I've not replaced ours as it's open drum design allows me to work on it if need be by an overwrap, etc. while under sail. This could be my ignorance as perhaps the new closed models never get an overwrap. Pat
