Hello, I have a 1974 Catalina 27 std rig. wing Shoal draft? Short and stubby. Anyway I just picked up a 150 genny with a schaffer roller furling unit. Now this unit is probabley the first one ever made the sail has a wire luff and is houisted up using the jib halyard. Now is any body familar with this rig and if so do you have a picture of how its anchored to the deck. The drum looks in perfect shape and has no internal moving parts. Just a swivel at the bottom and one for the top of the sail. I sent the sail out to my sail maker and she said it was in excellent shape for the year. I am replacing the Uv cover and having some nip and tucks done to it. Any help would be nice. Now the second item. My keel a wing keel is very short and stubby. I looked at the prints and and my keel seems to match the wing keel. The boat rocks like crazy when hit with a wave broadside. Is this normal. My Lancer 25 had a short stubby keel and she nevr rocked like the catalina. The reason i ask these questions are because the boat came from Florida and was a one owner boat supposadley. Is there any chance one of the previous owners could have lopped off some of the fin keel so that the boat could be sailed in the Florida shallow waters. My guess is no. But I just thought I would ask. Oh by the way I have three feet of snow in my back yard and as I write this it is snowing and we are expected to get another two feet of the horrid white stuff by the end of Tuesday. Oh how I long for spring!! Please excuse my spelling errors. It's late and I have to go shovel snow!!!
