I have a 1983 CDI roller furler on my 22 foot Hunter and was trying to set it up the other day when I came acrost a few problems. I have heard that if you feel any resistance when using the system, stop and find out what is wrong. When I tryed to furl the other day, all I was getting after about 2 turns was resistance and I stopped before breaking anything. What I am wondering is, how is the drum set up, and how do the two lines on the drum coil onto it (clockwise or counter-clockwise if looking down on it from the boat. Any other tips would be great before I make one of those nasty furl breaking errors (concidering I just bought a new cheaply made drum for 200 big ones). Thanks

Jib still cleated?

I just put mine together. I still on occassion try to roll it up without releasing the jib. I don't think it makes a difference which way it furls. I may be wrong, but I've had it on both ways and it works. Clockwise would be the preference, I suppose. Someone crrect me if I'm wrong. The main thing is make sure there is no pressure on the sail before you furl. Jim
