You state foam pads are not good on a small boat. Do you recommend against reefing a furling 110 genoa on a H22? If I feel the need to reduce the jib size, should I just roll it up?

Roller Reefing

Ron, On small boats I feel that it is better to reef the main in order to shorten sail. A 110% genoa on a 22 ft boat is not a particularly large sail, basically not much bigger than a working jib. If you are still overpowered with a reef in it might be too windy to really be comfortable in a 22 footer, though I know there are plenty of hardcore sailors out there. If you are one of them then go ahead and add the luff pad. Make sure you are able to move your lead forward when you reef the genoa Thanks, Bill C. Doyle Sails
