I just purchased a 1987 O,day 272 and it appears that the line (jib halyard) that should run inside the furling tube had pulled out. Plus it looks like the rope cover is worn and needs replacing. The big problem is that it appears that the plasic traveler end of the line was molded to the rope when it was made. Has any on had this problem? Any Ideas where you would purchase a replacement line with the traveler molded on or how to go about coming up with replacement traveler end. Right now the line is stuck at the top of the mast so I would like to have some ideas before I go up there to fix it. PS do you know what the line size should be. Thanks,

...but they've changed the configuration of the halyard. It no longer has the molded on plastic "traveler," but instead has a metal ferrule and the last two feet or so of the line is decored. The metal ferrule rides inside the channel on the plastic foil and the decored line slips through the slot and ties to the head of the sail. They'll explain better than me. The new halyard will cost you $60 from CDI. I replaced mine two years ago and the new design works fine. Just replaced my lower furling unit a couple of weeks ago. Ed, Welcome to the lake, I have the 322 at the end of F dock and owned the 272 on F dock before that. The system is a CDI unit. Come by this weekend if you are up and we will get some folks together to get the halyard down. Jeff Fleenor
