Hi,Does anybody know anything about spin-tec triumph 2000 roller furling? Is it good system? What actually owners of 28.5 use?Another system what I look at Profurl NC32.Is this good one?Eugene.
Eugene:Compare the price of comparable units. This unit is reasonably priced. Compare the construction (no maintenance ever). The metal parts are all isolated (no corrosion). No bearings to fail. They have an open drum. All high grade materials. Check out the warranty and their return policy. Many of the other units need professional installation or modifications to the headstay too.The same unit that you would install on your boat is the unit that they install on a 65' boat. Most of the other units have larger models for the larger boats. If you want to save money go to the CDI units. If you want a quality unit get the Spin-tec.
I have an '87 28.5, that I sail on Lake Travis here in Austin. My boat has the Harken roller furling system that originally came on the boat. Still works like brand new. You just turn a water hose on the bearings every once in a while to keep them clean and replace the line on the drum every few years, and never have to worry about it. Good luck. It is a major expense.
I have an 86 H28.5, I've only owned for three years. It has the North Sails system when I purchased the boat, it's smooth and has never gave me a concern. I single often in 15 winds.
