I am considering a roller furler for the jib on a Ranger 23. I would like to hear from owners about their experiences w/a roller furler.

On my 33, I love my roller furler that it came with. . .though, if it hadn't I probably wouldn't have bought one. . . The biggest thing is one less flaked sail I have to store in the boat, and after a long day sailing it is easier to put away. . .no flaking, folding, and bagging a sail with a 42' luff and 20'+ foot  Just roll it up and go home!!

On a 23 foot boat though, I wouldn't think your sail is so much to make it difficult to stow when not in use. . .if you get a furler, you also have to get your sail modified or have a new one made. . .could get expensive

I could be old school, but if you race the boat, a roller furler is a so-so idea. A partially furled sail is nowhere near as good as a smaller head sail when conditions pipe up.
