I have a Harken RF that ocassionally hangs when rolling in or out. Doesn't seem to matter if it's under load. The fix is usually to go in the opposite direction then try again...Any idea what the problem might be?
I have a simular problem with my Harkin 1.5 . It turned out to be interference with my spinnaker halyard and block at the top of the mast and the Harkin rotating unit at the top of the RF. I did a temperary fix by pulling the halyard behind the spredders and fixing it to the toe rail in line with the shrouds. The real issue with my unit is the genoa's luff is about two to three inches to long.
We have a 33.5 with the Harken 0 unit. We had it custom mounted below deck and had the new 150 genny cut long (almost touches deck) for extra square footage. I wish we would have reduced luff length a bit. Ours binds up sometimes on the first turn of the reef or furl. Drives me craze especially when we have it head to wind in a blow and are flogging our new 150 into early retirement in order to take any load off it. I am going to really examine the problem in a week or so and will post any solutions we come up with. You do the same please.Doug
