We were out for the last day before the haul in Casco Bay just enjoying the day and reviewing the year when it struck us. Did you see that lobster buoy? Can't be, not again.
Of all the luck, we were ending the season hung up on lobster traps. Then I remembered Roger Long's method of release. We dropped the swim ladder into the 40 degree water and I stepped down one rung with the boat hook. I was able to catch the line and with my wife hauling me as I hauled the line, I was back in the boat with the pot warp. I worked my way to the bow and pulled some slack before I cleated it off. Back to the swim ladder I was able to hook the buoy and bring it over the transom. I had to cut the line to pull it back through the notch above the rudder, but I retied it at the buoy. After releasing the bow cleat we were on our way. :dance:
