Rocna anchors

I was planning to order a Rocna anchor and have heard that some boats have had to extend their bow rollers to allow clearance for retrieval. I have a new Catalina 42 on order with a double bow roller and it seems like there is pretty good clearance on at least one of the rollers. I wonder if anyone is using these anchors that could give me some insight into just how much clearance they need.

Thanks Rick

Like you said "worth a thousand words". It looks like the same double bow roller setup that Catalina uses and you bow angle is closer to plumb than mine. I guess it will fit. So how do you like your Manson?

An amazing anchor

I used to swear by my Bruce (44#) but in grass it was very difficult to set and I'd have to go with my CQR. I got the Manson Supreme (45#) last season (I spend Nov-May cruising in the Bahamas) and it is the best anchor I've ever seen. Got rid of the CQR. I thought the Rocna was much too pricey. He seems to have distribution problems. Rick http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau393/ beneteau393 : Beneteau393 Group

No problem getting a Rocna

I bought a Rocna for our Hunter 33 earlier this season and had no problem getting one in a couple of weeks. I also found it cheaper than the Manson. Have used it a few times already, couple of times setting in heavy weads. Pulled up the anchor with a 3-4' weed ball. Anchor held in 10- 15 knot winds.

Scott, it's not so easy

getting one in the States. Unless things have changed Rocna only had a dealer in B.C. My 393's in FL. Rick http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau393/ beneteau393 : Beneteau393 Groupck

Delivery to US

I live pretty close to BC, so delivery was not too bad for me. I guess it would be a bit more expensive to get them all the way to Florida. I heard they are looking for dealers in the US. It could be a good business opportunity for someone in the South East if they are as good as the testing and the satisfied customers imply. I was happy with my Bruce but then I use a large size with 110 ft of chain and nylon rode also. I also never put it to a real gale force test. When I read the test results in Sail magazine, it was a real wake-up call.
