Some friends and I are planning a trip to play some golf. I found Rocky Point which is in Hawk Cove on Back River Neck near Essex. I was hoping to find out about docking there and what restaurants and other facilities might be available there. If you know about other courses that you can sail to in about a half of a day I'd love to hear about that too. I know about Great Oak Landing. Thanks.

Rocky Point could even be in Mexico

The Rock Point I'm most familiar with (Puerto Penasco) is in the state on Sonora on the Sea of Cortez.

He's in the upper Chesapeake

There is a small dock behind the Baltimore County Sailing Center on the Back Creek side but I don't think it is open to visitors. I believe it belongs to the county. I also think if you draw much more than 2' you won't be able to get there. Anything further west in Back Creek than that I'm not familiar with.

Hi Dan,

Dan, We're sailing up to Manhattan for 2 weeks and will be returning the first weekend of July. As much as I'd like to hook up with you, we probably won't be down that weekend. I'll be playing catch-up at home. Good luck in the race,

Manhattan???

Sailing??? Sorry to say that it looks like we won't cross wakes. We have another cruise to MYC later this summer and we'll be in Rock Hall for Labor Day weekend, I think. Another time...

Up the bay,

through the C&D Canal, down the Delaware Bay to Cape May. An offshore overnighter from Cape May to Sandy Hook and under the Verrazano Bridge the following day. Spend 1 night at Liberty Landing in NJ, behind the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Then 4 nights at the 79th St. Boat Basin. Do some sightseeing (Empire State Bldg, Museum of Natural History and Hayden Planetarium, South St. Seaport Museum, Central Park, The Dakota, the cable car to Roosevelt Island, WTC site, Times Sq.), some eating and drinking and we have tickets to Blue Man Group one night. Then we reverse course and head for home. Keep in touch, we'll get together sooner or later.
