The 2 bolts that hold the front of my head assembly to the floor have become extremely loose. It makes for an interesting ride in heavy air. I have searched for easy access, but it doesn't seem to be there. It looks like I need to take the bulkhead apart to access underneath the head where I should be able to secure these bolts. Is this true. Bill

Epoxy

I have a 27' footer. If yours is like mine the head just bolts into the wooden floor with lag bolts. When mine striped out, I removed the bolts and worked some quick setting epoxy down into the holes with a tooth pick. It is easier if you remove the head. After the epoxy set, the holes would again hold the bolts. So far it is still holding.

LAG BOLTS

The head is probably secured to the fibreglass platform with lag bolts. Lag bolts do not use nuts to tighten them but secure themselves to the material into which they are being screwed, much like wood or sheet metal screws. The head on my C-27 was secured that way and when I replaced my head recently I confimed this. So it may be that all you have to do is tighten the bolts. Try that before replacing them with larger ones. MJ

Thanks

I already tried tightening them from the top, but they just spin. The Epoxy and larger lag bolts sound like good ideas, Thanks, Bill

Toothpicks

Try filling the bolt holes with toothpicks and wood glue before you replace the lag bolts. Jam them in and break them off. Let the glue set and you have something for the bolt to dig in to.
