Biscayne Bay Fireworks

For years, we have taken our 30-foot Hunter and two or three other couples out on Biscayne Bay for the July 4th fireworks. The park in downtown Miami puts on a spectacular show for the thousands of people on shore and in the dozens of boats which anchor on the bay near the old Miami Marine Stadium. You can also see displays from Miami Beach and several other cities ringing the bay. You can get a crick in your neck from trying to see all of them! This year we cancelled the boat trip because of severe thunderstorms in the entire area but will try again next year! Miami also puts on another great fireworks show New Year's Eve, and we take the boat up for that one frequently. King Elliott, "King Louie", Miami, FL

Fireworks, indeed..

While This year I was appearing with two separate musical groups for the 4th(AM, and then PM)and was caught in the rain for the evening show. LAST YEAR, however we were on vacation in Florida and were staying in Punta Gorda. We had towed our modest V21 all the way down and sailed in Charlotte Harbor the first week of July. While I wasn't able to convince the admiral to anchor out for the spectacular display that was practically outside our hotel window, the sight of the boats anchored in the harbor for the fireworks(as well as the second leg of the trip sailing near the Keys on the east coast) was more than enough to convince her to leave NJ when we retire and settle there-with a slightly larger boat of course!
