I have a 2005 Hunter 33. I was thinking about putting bird spikes on the spreaders, however I noticed when sailing down wind the main sail definately goes up against the spreaders. Do I risk damaging my main sail with plastic bird spikes?? Please advise. thank you

I have Bird B Gone spikes on both sets of spreaders. This is the fifth year and no problems with the main.

Tie or tape a strip of shiny Mylar tape from the shroud to the mast about 1-1/2: above the spreaders. Anything that will flutter and ripple that much will spook them.
