Does anyone have experience with a Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang on a Hunter 29.5? I'm specifically interested in how to rig the control line to use the existing deck organizers. Since the line would need to run toward the bow a foot or so before they "wrap' back to the organizers I think it will bind. Any alternatives? cheers -Robb Inamorata

You could...

...do what I did. I added two Harken triples, one with a becket that connect to the aft boom vang control line that hang under the vang and run to a mast base block then through the deck organizer then back through the sea shroud to a clam cleat. Wish I had a picture. The additional purchase allows me to suck the vang down without using the winch which might be busy if you are on a port tack. If you are confused let me know and I could take a picture in a couple of days.

A picture would help. What purchase does your boom vang have without the triples? is it a Garhauer? thanks -Robb
