Does anyone have any words of wisdom about getting a rigid boom vang for the H216? I see that there was some traffic on the subject a couple of years ago concerning the Garhauer RV 12-1. If anyone got this model, how was it? Are there any other options out there? I don't like the topping life. I had used a simple boom-kicker (sold at this site) with the boat along with the stock rope vang but I'm having problems with it. My screws just stripped out on the boom kicker this last weekend. I'm looking for completely different solution now.

I bought the Garhauer a couple years ago and love it. It is a beautiful piece of machinery and the vang is easy to use and adjust. Working with Garhauer was a dream. I don't know what model I ordered but it was too long so they shortened it and removed one of the three springs. I would like stiffer springs but they say they are not available. One really nice feature is the ability to raise the boom way up out of the way when motoring/embarking/etc. I would buy it again probably but it is a big chunk of change. When ordering, you might want to call first and make sure yours is configured just like mine.

Oh...the Garhauer is easy to install. I can supply measurement and pix on this forum is anyone judges they really need them. BTW: One can gain a couple inches and get a better mast/boom angle my flipping the mast fitting upside down.
