Bob, Welcome to the forum! Try to purchase

a book Titled " The Complete Riggers Apprentice" by Brian Toss. In the book he tells how to measure the existing rig and how to assemble all of the components. Mr. Toss is a professional rigger in Port Townsend , Washington,USA His books are considered to be among the best. Good luck.

Hi Bob; Welcome! If you have the old rigging, you can send it to the West Marine Rigging shop, and they will duplicate it for you. Information is in their catalog, and on line at www.westmarine.com I think any good rigging shop will do the same, but I have had good luck with West Marine, and they offer international service. Fair winds Dave

Dave, Bob is in Europe!

Can you imagine the shipping cost for sending that rig both ways across the big pond? Besides, Swageless cable fittings were invented in Europe, I'm pretty sure that he can find a rigger on the Mediterranean.

Not to mention Metric vs Imperial ...

One of the issues on European boats is the use of metric wire. Most rig shops in North America do not have fittings and dies to swage metric wire. Using mechanical fittings (Norsman, Staylock etc) is the expensive option. However, mechanical fittings can be 3 times the price of swaged fittings. If you replace the wire on a 7 year old rig with mechanical fittings, then replace the wire every 7 years, the boat is nearly 30 years old before you break even on cost. While the manufacturer will not have rigging wires in stock, they most certainly have the diameters and lengths on file. Every boat I've commissioned has that information sent as part of the documentation package. I'm sure any good rig shop could duplicate the stay if they are provided with a sample.

Roberto, go to http://groups.yahoo.com and sign in. That is a Beneteau 423 site and they have the full European version of the 423 manual that you can download. I am sure you will be able to find all the information you need. Jim
