I'm looking for someone who knows and/or may have information on the original rigging for the topping lift and reefing lines on a 1983 Hunter 34. Thanks

And your question is?

I have modified only the topping lift of our boat, otherwise it is rigged as deliverd. Your question is?

topping lift or rigid vang

I enjoy my 34 much more now that I have eliminated the topping lift and gone to a rigid vang. Whenever the bimini is up, the boom end is inconvenient to reach to release the topping lift. One other solution is to run a topping lift line forward to a more convenient place on the boom. The rigid vang is heaven..

34 TOP AND REEF

On my '83,: Topping lift - Cable from near top of mast has a block above boom end. line from boom end goes up to block and back down through fairlead and cam cleat at boom end. Reefing Line - first reef line starts on starboard side of boom, up through sail reef cringle, back down to sheave on port side of boom end, through boom to sheave and cam cleat at mast end. Cleat does not hold well. Second reef similar.
