I have recently purchased an O'Day 19 (by using this site) and have a few safety-before-sailing questions. First, I would like to know if there is any way of "measuring" the correct tension on the fore/aft shroud sets? Second, the forestay has a furling jib (CDI) so setting the rake of the mast is limited... should I be so concerned as to worry about the rake? My fear is that I'll get out in the Great South Bay for the first time and watch the mast snap off under 8 knot wind because of something 'stupid' I've done or not done.
