Rigging Spinnaker Halyard

I have a 1994 Hunter 40.5 with an original Z-Spar Mast.

I'm thinking of rigging her to be able to fly an Asymmetrical Spinnaker. There is an opening about 5 feet above the deck on the mast for spinnaker haylard and a spinnaker pole lift but no lines. The mast does not appear to have any filler inside as I can easily see the lines inside the hollow mast so I would imagine a line can be dropped by a skilled rigger from the point where it exits the mast above the jib halyard.

I was wondering a few things.
1. For this boat does anyone have a range of luff, leach, foot lengths that are appropriate. There are often used spinnakers available and I'd though I'd check them out if I could get a size to be looking for before sprining for a new one.
2. I don't plan on going up the mast. Does anyone have a rough idea of the cost for rigging the lines (just the labor, not the lines themselves.)
3. Any additional tips or pointers, cautions, etc would be appreciated.

I think a call to Hunter Yachts may be one avenue to pursue....if you don't get a response here, anyway. Most of the sail maker sites have databases for the major boat models... especially asymmetric sails, which don't require as precise measuring as an upwind sail.

Hi, Not a really big job, its about 2-3 hours so would cost you about $250.00 plus some travel. There will be a sheave in the mast so the hardest part is getting the line down without getting it tangled...let me know if i can help. Cheers

Easy Job

If you come to Quantico I will go up the mast and drip the leader line down for you. No charge. This is really a simple job and since it sounds like you have an existing sheave and exit fittings so it should not be hard. Keep an old metal hanger handy to poke into the mast to fish the line out where it exits the mast and all the rest is gravy.
