I followed this web site for a long time before I joined. Others apparently never join. In the past there was a post by 'Pete' who logged on as a guest. He posted a two page document that gave running rigging spec's for many O'Day boats.

That document was apparently lost when Cap'n Herring went to the new site formant. Other stuff was lost too. Since 'Pete' logged on as a guest, his email was never recorded. So unless 'Pete' reads this stuff, we cannot access the original post.

The listing was not complete. It does not include the 32 nor the 26. However in line sizes you can extrapolate between other models. It would be nice to get a copy of the original and one that includes more boats.

RAD,

Is it the post you can't find, or an attachment to the post? If the post is here please provide a link to it.

Phil,

It is the attachment which he claimed to have submitted under manuals, the post can be found by searching under "Rigging Specs". Also page two is not in my file. If it exists how do you search site for it???

Hi Ed,

I've got access to the old site and just searched the forums, the Photo Forum, Oday manuals, and Oday downloads. I found some interesting stuff that wasn't over here (manuals for Oday 22, 23, and mast raising page for O25 -- all now posted under Boat Info -> Oday Modifications -> boat model), but no rigging specs.

From the sound of Pete's email, I'm guessing that he emailed the document to me. Which doesn't mean it ever got posted to the site. I received many doics over the years that were too small to read, blank, 4 copies of the cover, etc.

But, the question is, if you got it from the old Oday site... where? Could it have been posted to the forums, as an attachment, maybe?

Phil asked, "the question is, if you got it from the old Oday site... where? Could it have been posted to the forums, as an attachment, maybe?"

About a year and half ago I had a computer crash that wiped out a lot of files. Early last year I went about recording files anew.

This is the hidden information when I recopied that file:

Was it from when it was just posted or from the archives or where I do not recall.

It gives no clue as to where it was copied from.

It would be nice to get a better copy of that information because it is not easy to read and applies to so many boats. Maybe a search of 'Pete's would yield an email address of the poster.

That's not a bad clue. I'll check the posts around that date and see what's there.

Meanwhile, I enlarged the image you posted today, darkened and sharpened it. It still looks like hell but it's a little bit more readable.

I also posted it in the owner mods section under all the models listed.

It seem like maybe r. w. landau posted that page? I remember seeing it and it was posted by a long time regular.

That list was printed by O'DAY in 1979, hence the 26 would not be there since the 26 was not built until 1984. 1978 was the last year for the 32, and so that is why the 32 does not appear.

I remember that post about the rigging and wondered why the 32 wasn't included, and thats very interesting about the the last year for the 32 was 1978 cause somewhere I read they were produced from 75 to 79
Info for these models are as rare as brass tits on a bull

It is possible that O'DAY did build a few more 32s in 1979, I was going by the fact that the 32 was mentioned in the 1978 brochures that I have, but not the 1979 brochures. 1978 was the last official year for the O'DAY built MARINERs but I have seen a few with definite 1979 Hull ID numbers.......
I actually thought myself that the 32 was built beyond 1978, and was surprised to see it not mentioned after '78.

Sunbird 22358,

According to http://www.iheartodays.com/model_oday_32.html the 32 was built until 1979. Keep in mind there were two versions of the 32, the slope and ketch.

Since you have all this detailted information do you have a good copy of the rigging sheet that I posted? Do you have access to a good copy of that sheet?

As to your pointing out that the 26 was made after the time period, do you have a copy of the rigging list for a later time period?

My mast on my 26 looks exactly like the mast on a 25 cb a few slips down the dock. But the mast looks different than the mast of 25 cb under rebuild at my my marina. That boat was built between my dock mates boat and my boat. Makes me think that different plants used different sources for mast. My mast is Kenyon with aluminum finish. The boat down the dock is Kenyon. I will have to check on mast source on the boat buing rebuilt by the marina.

O'Day 25 being rebuilt is a 1982. It was gutted and all new bulkheads of teak installed. New oak compression post. Other woodwork replaced as needed. The hull was repaired as needed (but it needed very little). Cleaned and polyglo applied. This boat looks new. A new 1982 O'Day 25 c/b. The mast that goes on that boat, while structurally similar, is painted the O'Day off white.

I do not want to think what the owner paid for this rebuild. The guy at the marina who did the rebuild is very good. The marina even built a special building for him to work in. Well, that is for him and the marina's owner who is rebuilding a 1980 Catalina 30 with his asssistance.
