I want to rig a staysail from the mast to the deck. I have the deck attach point just in front of the anchor locker made with a Winchard heavy duty folding pad eye with a 1/4" backing stainless steel plate. I need to know the best location for the eye on the mast, recommended size of wire etc. Thanks

I want to try this to.

I have aTr wing keel C30 1988 and would like to rig a100% stay sail.I sail in a lake that is about 11/2 mils wide and 32plus mils long I have a150 % headsail and It takes a beating tacking up wind in 18 to 20 knots of wind .I have a window in the sail at about 135 % to 110 and cant reaf there for fear of a rip. when I roll up to 100 the head sail hangs on the four stay like a old rag .Im thinking of geting a new 150 but I cant aford to by new sails every three or four years .The wind range is from 12 to 16 knots daily and every other weekend it blows 18 to 22knots.( summer months) spring and fall it can be windy .I have a CDI roller and thought it would be nice to keep the 150% rolled on the four stay and run a stay sail up paralel to the four stay .I was thinking of a inturnal stay that is in the sail and I was thinking of useing my jib hailyard to pull up the stay sail.I thought my old 150 would last for years If I could keep it out of 17 knot winds and up. just useing it for down wind sailing .Iwould buy a120 for windy days and put it on the roller but I dont have room to store it and its a real bear to fold in the cabin I thought a100% jib from astd rig C 30 would do the trick and I could get a used one to try it this year. What do you guys think. JohnOlson
