What is a reasonable price?

How much is the knowledge and experience of a person worth?

The Catalina 27 folks

sing the praises of (I think this is the right name) South Coast Rigging. Can anybody confirm?

Rigging

Sand Sailor- Just take your old rigging to a West Marine and have them duplicate your rigging. I know there are probably cheaper places. You will NOT find better quality anywhere. If you have issues, they will take care of you. Rob Hessenius

Replacing your rigging

I used these guys. They actually have packages for you whole boat. I was skeptical about the price because yes they are CHEAP. But I got a quality product shipped promptly AND they answered the phone for a question I had. http://www.cajuntrading.ca/ Sorry that didnt come out as a link but.. im bloody tired Cheers

DIY or www.riggingonly.com

The only problem with DIY ends is the cost. You only need small wire so instead of spending, just for example if we look at 5/32” wire, 4.94 for a swage fitting and 7.50 labor to swage it you are spending 25.51 for the same type of eye just a DIY made by Norseman. If you were keeping the boat long enough to reuse the ends or doing long distance cruising where you need to be able to do repairs it starts to make sense but in your case I think it’s a waste of money and your time. The prices I just used are from www.riggingonly.com. I buy most of my swage fittings from their wholesale division. They use type 316 stainless for the wire and fittings which is more then you need but the price is reasonable so why not go with the best. A discount house like Defender might use 304/306 stainless so the hardware is less expensive but I tend to stay away from that type of operation when buying items with no brand name. They may be cheaper but I prefer knowing what I am buying. Just my opinion for what its worth. All the best, Robert Gainer
