Raymarine install
I just installed the same set in my 1987 Hunter 40. To install the wind speed indicator the mast must come down. I had to run an electricians fish cable the fell length of the mast inside the pvc conduit to run the wind cable. This cable must be cut and spliced - mine was in the bilge. Raymarine gives you a junction box for this purpose. My mast is deck stepped so the cable had to be fished down the mast support and make a right angle turn to get to the bilge. Bad words were spoken! As to the knot and depth meter cables don't even think of cutting and splicing them according to directions. You must run the cables FROM the thru hull TO your instrument pod. Remember the depth transducer must be threaded from the OUTSIDE of the hull, while the same is not true of the knot meter transducer. (The parts are separable.)At the helm I had to run the cables plus one for the autopilot through a relatively small Merriman sternpost without interferance with the steering chains and cables, a daunting task indeed! One of the hardest aspects of my install was getting the cables out of the sternpost, into the stainless grabpost, and up into the Navpod instrument holder. Tolerances were tight.
