Recently purchased a 27ft Oday { 1976} having trouble figuring out mainsheet rigging. Does anyone have a photo or any advice?

Thanks for your reply. There are no O'days around our club and as yet folk who have attempted to help have not seen this type of rig, its kind of split and we do not have a traveler. We are inching forward a bit at a time though.:}

Is there a block with 2 pulleys on aft end of boom and
mainsheet lines form an inverted V out to pulleys on hull edge? OR Do you have mainsheets coming down to center of top of transom? OR Do your mainsheets attach at center of boom and come down to cabin top at front of sliding hatch. If you might have a guess which of these 3 you have- I think we could figure out how to run the lines. If you don't know, I am sure we could answer if we had a picture of unrigged boat.

Depends on the type of steering
I have a '79 that was originally tiller steered & the mainsheet was rigged from the end of the boom (double sheave block) to the transom (single sheave block with a cam cleat) The boat was retrofitted with wheel steering and the mainsheet moved to mid-boom, with the sheet running to blocks shackled to pad-eyes on each side of the companionway sliding hatch. I don't like this set-up as it's difficult to sheet the boom in hard (to midships) without putting a lot of down force on the sheet. I'm going back to a double-sheaved block on the end of the boom, with the sheet running to a pad-eye set in the cockpit floor , just ahead of the steering pedestal. Later on I may install a track across the cockpit seats and have the lower block attached to a car running on the track.
