I had a crusing chute made for my boat. Now all I have to do is rig the boat to use it. I am interested in hearing the details of how others have added the rigging to a 23.5 (or 240) to handle an asymmetrical spinnaker. Thank You, Al Beattie Elsewhere

Good Idea!

Good Idea, Al ! I'll be watching too but in case you're a "pioneer", be sure to write a report when you invent some rigging. Ken S/V WouffHong

It's easy

You didn't say if you have roller furling or not. If you have furling you can use the existing jib halyard. You have to remove the exit block that it is currently in and reinstall it above forestay for the furler. to remove the turning block drill the rivits out. Then drill the pilot holes for the locatation of the new turning block. Cut the opening with a electric sabre or scroll type saw. Snake the halyard up to the new hole and reinstall the turning block with rivots. If you don't have a furler the easiest thing would be to run a new halyard externally and install a cleat on the lower portion of the mast for it. Use a pad eye and turning block drill the hole for the pad eye and rivot on. If your 23.5 does not have a stern rail the next issue is where to install the turning blocks. My 240 has stern rail seats so they were attached to the stern rail. If this is not an option they need to be installed in the coaming and backed with a plate to prevent them from pulling out. This is a hard area to acess and would require the most amount of time in the process. The sail is a great addition enjoy it.

Chute rigging

The Hunter 23.5 Manual has drawings and specs for locating spinnaker fittings, if your jib halyard is not available. I will answer any questions if needbe.
