Hello I have An O'day 30 1978 and it is in a very good shape. I want to modify a few thigns and To live on it. I want to leave Montreal on the St-Lawrence To Halifax And load it up to go ofshore sailing to go to the Bermudas islands an then to the Bahamas and then the Carebian seas.
I want to equipped the boat to be a blue water safe. Is there any body ho have done a simillar trip.:confused: I had a fiew comments not all positifs but I know that it will be a good chalenging tripp and to cross the gulf stream outch could be some adventure But I know it is possible no matter the kind of boat I have the most importan thing is I know my boat and its limmits.

It not if the boat can do it, Just difficult to carry neccesary safety equipment and supplies. Pick your windows carefully...Dale

I have a 1978 ODay 32 center cockpit with a centerboard which has pretty much the same hull and keel and I read some where that my model boat was very popular in the islands for charter and that they left Fall River,ME via water to get there
I've read a few and met a few folks with the same boat as me and there was a lot of ocean between ports so I would say yes

Yes
It is easier to go from Bermuda to the Caribbean and then, to the Bahamas: look at the pilot charts for the North Atlantic and follow the wind!

I want to bring my african grey parrot with me and my littel wife.
I Know if I can pass the st- Lawrence with out to mutch trouble than I will be good to navigate on any water. That most sailors say about the st- Lawrence.
I am cheking The ocean currents and weather try to be good to read the maps.
I have a sextan and it is easy to use cause I Know astronomie since I was a Kid.

You might consider a GPS for those instances where you can't get a sight. You can get GPS for almost nothing if you plan to bring a PC then a GPS dongle (usglobalsat) is only $25 on amazon, you can download open cpn for free and lots of US charts for free.

I have a gps on the boat and I will install a ssd radio I am looking for a radar and a life raft.

I would trade that african grey for a Norwegian Blue. Much hardier, able to hold still for long periods of time.
