I recently purchased a Pearson 26, my first "big" boat and I want to learn about tuning the rig. Are there any books, video's, etc that you could recommend to help me learn about rig tuning?
Greg: The subject is far to complex for casual Q/A sessions. Briontoss is a good source of information. Also the books Sail Power and the Encycopedia of Sailing may be found at a library.
What I found helpful was a conversation with my local North Sails sailing guru. I also believe North sells tapes regarding this topic. Buy yourself a rig tensioning gauge from Boat U.S. or West Marine and follow the directions. I would also talk to some other Pearson 26 owners about what they set their rig tension levels to. Scott C
