Any one know the "Rig Tension" on a Pearson 303. I had it done this year, as the boat was new to me... but wasn't around. Think I will tackle it next year... if I can get some direction.

First hand tighten Upper shrouds and even up (measure from bottom of wire stud to deck)Then set Mast Rake with forestay/backstay Tighten: Backstay/Forestay 20% of breaking strength (Mast head Rig) Uppers or Cap Shrouds 15% Lowers are tightened to put the mast back in Colum To finish the Job right sail in a stiff breeze if leeward Wires go slack tighten up the lose wire and its opposite evenly (1 Full turn each) and then try again. this is just the basics

Rigging

Sir, are you daft? Ask how to set your rig from folks that you don't know or have a clue where they indeed get THEY'RE information? Get a professional rigger a rig surveyor or if you must do it on the cheap...get a good book from a reputable known rigger like Brian Toss from Washington he's written some goodones. Don't trust the lives of your family and friends to some stranger on the internet. I have seen a lot of misinformation on this site and others here A dismasting can cause death. There are folks here 'nice' in a given situation, but with too much time on they're hands who answer ecah and every question and have never taken they're boats out of a bay. let alone sailed an ocean or weathered a gale. Be careful out there!

Bill Shaw says

See link for Bill Shaw's recommendations. He designed the 303.

Bill Shaw seems like a nice guy... God rest his soul, however link doesn't seem too technical (but yet again... if its good enough for Bill... it's good enough for me). I'll probably have to pay the yard again next year to have it rigged, climb on the riggers back, follow him around, and ask a bunch of dumb questions. The yard I am at will not allow boats to be on the hard and rigged. I guess that way they have you coming and going... built in job security. Jack Sparrow wouldn't stand for that! My helm right now is dead neutral in a 10-15 breeze. If I fell off... I would never see the boat again. I would like it to weather up.
