Rig on Legend 35.5 replacement

We hauled our 1995 Legend 35.5 for bottom paint and some maintenance in late July, for the summer storm season. It was on the hard, on stands, with hurricane straps at a marina in Port Charlotte, FL, near our home. The boat was stripped and ground strapped, and we thought we were in pretty good shape; however, this storm was quite severe. The boat next to ours fell onto ours, and it appears that their mast was came down on our backstay, and collapsed our rig, snapping the mast. Our boat remained upright on the stands. We made out better than most.

I'm meeting the insurance adjuster on Monday. This boat was in pristine condition, inside and out. We hope that the adjuster won't total it, and and it can be re-rigged. I'd like to get a good idea of the replacement cost for spars, standing rigging and roller furling. I've looked at the cost to replace the Profurl, the standing rigging, and left a message at Selden about the mast/boom/gooseneck. Does anyone have any idea of what a replacement mast/spars would cost for this boat? Thanks in advance for any info- I appreciate the help.

Sorry to see the damage.
Looks like you just need the Mast. Likely the boom is ok from the images. You may be able to salvage and reuse the spreaders. All of these are attachment pieces to the mast.
Determination of Totaled, is going to include the time cost to get the parts and do the repair. That may be your biggest challenge. The time it will take to get a spar and install.

There is Selden on the East cost. A West coast resource I have used is Ballenger Spars. Custom aluminum and carbon masts and booms

Bummer... You do all the right things and something/somebody else takes you out....

Might be an idea (especially now) to scout around for a hull-damaged 355 that has an intact rig. I'd expect a 'new' rig, esp adding in labour would quickly approach $20K assuming you can find one....

Thanks, guys. The boat is insured; I was thinking it probably could be re-rigged (new furler, standing, and mast for around 20K). If I can get that done for my deductible, that would be my best option. We just spent 7K on all new canvas, which was installed in July. The boat is insured for survey value (2021) of $45K. I really don't want them to total it. I have no idea where to begin looking for a hull damaged 35.5. Google, I guess, huh?

Check the recent storm-damaged areas that felt the effects of Fiona and Ian... even parts of Nova Scotia..
Seems unlikely they'll write off a $45K boat for a 20K claim...

I expect there are a lot of damaged boats out there. Maybe one sank and the rig is OK. A long shot but maybe. Find some marine salvagers.

It also may be possible to sleeve the mast since the top and bottom may be OK. Ya might want to discuss that with a reputable spar company rep. Mast would be cut at the kink then a sleeve would be installed internally .. many longer masts were done that way from the factory for easier shipping.. Good luck

I have a Hunter 380 and your story sounds like mine. Our 380 had its rig destroyed by the two boats next to it in the yard during Ian, and we are now trying to get quotes for re rigging. I’ve called and emailed Seldon and I am hoping they can provide a quote.
