I am planning to rig my '88 H23 so I can raise the main sail from the cockpit. Has anyone used a layout and rig they would recommend?

A possibility

The setup on my h23 is a little different than most, it seems. The main halyard exits the mast about 10 feet up on the port side -- you pull down to raise the sail. The halyard is led to the cockpit with two lead blocks, an eye and a clutch. Pretty simple. The first lead block is verticle, turning the halyard to port, the second lead block is horizontal and turns the halyard aft. The halyard then goes through an eye and into the clutch on top of the cabin near the cockpit. There's also a cabin-top winch just aft of the clutch, but I don't usually mess with it. Here's pic. The top part is looking forward, where you can see the first lead block, eye and clutch. The lower pic is looking aft, showing the horizontal block. I have the same setup on the starboard side for the foresail halyard. Mac
