I am thinking about expanding my sailing skills and rigging my '84 hunter 20 with a spinaker. Does anyone have any suggesions? Can I use the jib halyard? I am guessing I'll need a seond set of fairleads and cam-cleats. The sail I have in mind is a used symetrical off of a Mariner 19' with 16'-4" luffs, and a 12'-6" foot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance Graham

You cannot use a jib halyard. The spinnaker flies above the headstay which would make a jib halyard wrap on the headstay and chafe when you jibe. Fortunately you have a mast which is very easy to take down to add the needed halyard. You will also need a spinnaker pole to fly it. Use your "J" as the length for your pole. You will also need a pole lift to control the height of the outboard end of the pole and a mast fitting for the inboard end.
