Well thank you for asking, Keith. As you know I've got Pronto! shrink wrapped for the winter which I hope will be mild so I can get enough done to have her ready by Memorial Day. I just built a ladder with two steps for the companionway. The boat originally had just one step which I felt was too long. I think they did it that way so the settee slide-out would have clearance. I eliminated the slide-out.
Then there's the head. The platform was rotted from the chainplate leak. So that area needs rebuilding. I mentioned before that the sink and vanity across from it was also rotted but I tore that all out and I'm just leaving it open for now. Maybe I'll use it for storage or shelves.
I had mixed success filling the holes on the deck. I worked out a way to fill them and match the nonskid. I took a double layer of blue masking tape and punched a quarter inch hole it and put the tape over the quarter inch hole on the deck. Then I would mix and color gelcoat to match the nonskid. Fill the hole level with the tape (two layers works OK, three maybe too high- haven't completely worked that out). Remove the tape.
Then I used "aqua-mend" epoxy putty and made some stamps with the nonskid pattern and put them over the gelcoat.
Sorry, I don't have any pics of the results yet. The level of success depends a lot on the color match. Sometimes the gelcoat plug would
stick to the stamp and come out. If I'm not satisfied then I just drill it out with a 1/4" drill bit and do it over. Anyhow it's cosmetic since I injected Git-Rot in all the holes last spring. I doubt if I'll do anymore on that 'til springtime. I can even do it when she's in the water.
Mainly I want to have her ready to sail first.
I have to install a compass.
I'm working on the deck layout for the cockpit led lines. I installed two Lewmar #6 winches on the cabintop and am figuring out the location for the turning blocks. I replaced the old Barlow single speed primary winches with Lewmar two speeds. I'm converting the external halyards to internal and I have to install exit plates on the mast for them. I've got to add reef lines on the boom. First, second and flattening.
I have to rewire the mast. I'm adding an anchor light, a vhf antenna, and a windex light. The cabin needs to be rewired. I'm changing the location of the circuit panel. I'm replacing the nav lights. No LEDs yet.
All the teak trim needs to be reinstalled.
The galley should be bleached and finished- after she's sailing.
I'm going to clean the cushions (what is it with all these ugly damn plaid cushions) for now. They should get me through next summer. Then I want to replace the ugly damn plaid cushions with new covers. The foam still looks OK.
Instrumentation will have to wait also. I haven't figured out where to put the knotmeter and depthsounder. A season on the water will give me a better idea on placement.
The name needs to go on before launch, but that'll be easy.
If you can think of anything else, let me know.
