My Reverse polarity light comes on my breaker panel whenever I plug shore power in. I have a 1983 C30. I have had the boat for 7 years and don't recall this happening before. I don't often plug into shore power because I am on a mooring, but am concerned that I am doing some damage when this happens. Anyone have any experience or info on this, the manual doesn't address this issue. Thanks

Do you have three lights or two

on your RP indicator on your panel. If you have three lights, then when the left two are on it means it is OK when you plug in.

When you run your engine, if the polarity is in the wrong position, the battery will not charge. When you plug in, this protects your alternator from shore power.
When I bought mine I thought my alternator was shot because the batteries were always dead, till I was about to try to pull the alternator andy my teck flipped the switch and found everything was fine. You are right, the manual says nothing about it. Not sure how you would find out other than, trial and error.

I just went and looked again at the sticker I made for mine: ON for shore power
OFF for diesel.
And for the hot water heater button: when it's IN its hot (the switch) when it's OUT it's cold :) think about it, it's easy to remember :)
