removehtml]I want to retrofit a windlass, and refrigeration for my 290. Any suggestions or warnings? Thanks,Rob KError: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]
I had a 290 and now have the 33. The 290 had an icebox, the 33 a fridge. I say a well insulated icebox with block ice is better - doesn't need battery and charging system upgrades. My fridge (a very small one)draws about 5 amps an hour when running - even after cooling down on shore power, it's probably still a 50% cycle to keep it cool, maybe more on very hot days. Better to keep it simple.
Greg, If you construct an insulating box around the evaporator you will greatly improve the performance and cut amps used by 60-70%. A simple $3.00 test is to buy vinyl foam board at a crafts store, 3/8" and use duct tape to hold pieces together, and put foam board top on it. Time the cycles and measure the temps inside the evaporator and other areas of fridge.Dennis W.S/V FullSailed
