Oday Day Sailer II Lake Sinclair
I have a 1984 model, O'Day Day Sailer II. My problem: When I launch the boat, I can not be certain that my keel drops (After releasing the line securing it). Anyone else out there with this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Thanks

On my Mariner this has happened where the Keel was stuck (Barnicles etc.) A piece of metal rod down the hole where the line comes through to the winch and a push down works.

When you lowered the CENTERBOARD, did the up line pay out? That would be the easy indication that the CB went down. If the line doesn't move.... I doubt that the CB lowered. You should see the upline and the stainless steel cable attached to the CB move as the CB lowers. The CB on the DS II will stick up if it has been raised for a while, either due to sand/dirt/growth/etc inside or due ot the fact that the top corner of the CB is squarish and hte top inside of the CB trunk is roundish! I had to remove the CB (easier on your 1984 than on my 1979) and round over the top forward corner of the CB a bit to prevent jambing.
I added a hole in the top of the CB trunk (with a cap to cover it) that allows me to poke a stick into the trunk to push the CB down if it sticks now)
