RETRACTABLE CENTERBOARD

I NEED INFORMATION ON HOW TO REPAIR/REINSTAL A RETRACTABLE FOLD BACK CENTERBOARD ON A 1978 30' O'DAY. MY CENTERBOARD FELL OUT, LUCKLY IN THE SLIP. IT APPEARS THE ROTOR PIN GAVE WAY. THE CENTER BOARD AND KEEL ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. I NEED HELP IN DETERMINING HOW TO AND WHAT IS ENVOLVED TO REPLACE IT WHEN I PULL THE BOAT IN THE YARD. I AM LOOKING FOR ANYONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. WHERE IS THE PIN? HOW DO YOU FIND IT? WHAT DO YOU REPLACE IT WITH? ETC.,ETC.

CB Woes

Stewart, assuming the 30 is similar in design to the 25, this is the following procedure to remove the CB rod.Find the access plates by scrapeing away bottom paint and possibly epoxy putty. These will be located about 1/4 way down from the shoulder of the keel and back from the leading edge about 6 " or so. Once located remove the screws on the plate to expose the slot and fiberglass wedges where the delrin rod is located. You may have to bang the remaining rod out. I have Drawing

I have centerboard problems also - I believe my cable broke but won't know until it is hauled out. I have found from Starcraft some drawings of the pin and cable details - not dimensioned but I think may be helpful. Glad to fax to you if you give me a number. Pin appears to be 1/4 of the distance back from forward edge of keel about 1/2 way down. Pin bracket is bolted from the bottom into the keel with machine bolts. Pin is 5/16"x3" SS FH Mach screw. From my drawing - pin doesn't appear accessable from outside edge of keel -my opinion only.
