Restoring a ODay 20

Oday 20 Lake Ontario
Last fall I picked up a 1974 O’Day 20 cheap.
Took the bow pulpit off and tucked her into my garage to start the work. Started in the bow and all interior wood replaced as it was rotten. All teak redone with Captains Varnish. New hatch board, replaced all through hull interior plywood reinforcements. New sails, rigging and motor. More was done but for the sake of brevity you get the gist.
Have now had her out a few times to sail which is satisfying. Likes heavy wind which is curious.
Anyone else ever done a restoration like this? It would be fun to hear from you. It would be fun to chat with other 20 owners.
Thanks,
Scott

I just hauled my 1972 oday 22 today. She'll be getting a new deck core, rigging, and maybe interior before she splashes again.

My new interior should last longer than the original. What’s involved with the new deck core?
Thanks for replying.

Whoa, that’s major and good for you! Your work and pics are encouraging. My wife and most of my buddies thought I was nuts for doing the restoration on my 20. But she’s a classic to me and will around for a long time now.
So now you will put the glass you cut off back on? No more soft spots for you huh?

That's not MY work. Someone else's boat; someone else's thread. But it's about what's in my near future.

Oh, it is possible to replace the deck glass back over the core, but I'll probably just lay fresh glass.
