I'm in the middle of restoring a 1995 42 Passage. Are there any 95 passage owners that would be willing to send a bunch of pictures of different parts of your boat that I can use to see how everything's supposed to look. Items of interest include the anchor roller, companionway hatchcover, the large windows in the salon, the genset, the port bulkhead in the aft cabin, and both bulkheads in the v-birth. Any help would be great thanks.

Hi Brad, what do you mean restore? Is the ...

boat trashed? Have you checked out the knowledge Base...lots of information there? Also, the model was built from 1990 to 1997. So, I can get you some pics of our 1991 unless your set on the 1995 model year. Terry

Check YachtWorld

Look at Yachtworld.com for Passage 42's. There should be photos you can grab and save/print. Also, look at this site for the list of owners and email them directly. I suspect they don't all check this board.

Yeah . . . Sorta Trashed

The boat had a fire on board at one point, then went through a hurricane so there was exstansive water/fire damage. The guy who had it before me did a bunch of repairs that were inadequite at best (at least he got the rotten wood/ mold out). This is my first sailboat and I really didn't know what to look for as far as hidden damage goes so I got a surveyor who apparently knew less than me. At the end of the day I had a cracked rudder housing, broken genset, bent prop shaft, dangerous wiring, and a bunch of poorly done cosmetic work / carpentry that were all missed by the surveyor. I got all the mechanical stuff taken care of and now I'm working on the cosmetics and trying to get her back to looking like a Hunter. Any pics of your boat would help, I'm pretty sure the passages were almost identical as far as the layout/furnishings are concerned so the model year shouldn't be a big issue. Thanks for any help.

So Brad, regarding the Genset...

Do you know what is broke on it? Ours is a Cummins 8kw Onan Genset driven by a three cylinder Kubota diesel. Does the whole unit need to be replaced? If I were you I would hire a good surveyor to tell me the condition of the hull and support structure before I ventured off to rebuild a trashed boat. The P42 is one of Hunter's better built boats, very strong and quality throughout. As long as I had a good foundation to build from then maybe it will be worth the investment. Terry
