My son and I are restoring a late 1964 or 1965 O Day Widgeon. Nearly all cosmetic work and moving along well. The Widgeon did not have sails. We are seeking a set of sails for the Widgeon that are in good shape. Any advice or help on where to look and or who to call would be greatly appreciated, we have been scouring craigslist and eBay but there is very little and have just missed two sets thus far. I have a contact to make new but wish to chase original first. Thank you

Sails are expendable items. They do not get better with age. One of the big issues is fabric stretch, commonly referred to as blown out sails. These sails will drive the boat, but they will not point as well and especially for the mainsail, they cause the boat to heel excessively. Sails may look clean and the stitching may be intact, however, that does not mean the cloth is in good shape. If the seller says the sails are in "good shape" why are they for sale? UV damage to the fabric will not be visible on an eBay or Craigslist photo.

Sails for the Widgeon are not that expensive. Check out the sail loft here on SBO.

Welcome aboard, @tdol87.

Buy new sails. Get the best performance out of the boat. You will enjoy it more and also improve the resale value.
