Tired Pump
On our H34 the water pump also has a hard time priming. Especially when trying to draw from the aft tank. The suggested solution is to open the faucet in the vanity (closest one) and it should be ok. Given the fact that I think the pump on our boat is the original (although rebuilt) I have never been able to get it to prime this way. We usually try to make sure that the tanks never run dry, but this is very difficult without being able to see the level in the aft tank. My solution has been to loosen the NPT fitting on the output side of the pump until it is almost off - keep a cloth close - and then have someone work the pump switch. When you start to get wet, tighten it up quick (hand preasure is ok) dry it off and check for leaks. Of course the fun has worn off this chore, so last week I picked up a new water pump that will go in this weekend. I guess after 16 years it was about due to be upgraded. I'll figure out how to rig the old one for use as a washdown/cockpit shower pump. Scott 83-H34 Island Hops
