A few feet of the wire tube in our main mast has come adrift. We have managed to lasso
it with some bits of stiff wire and secure it to an internal spin halyard where it comes out of the mast temporarily, so no further rivets will pop.
Other than these thin halyard egress slots there is no access to the inside of the mast and the section that's come adrift is way too far up to reach from the bottom, to make pulling the mast a reasonable solution.
Pretty much the only thing I can think of is to cut an access hole in the area and resecure it with nuts and bolts. I hesitate to use expanding foam, for that would eliminate any possibility of adding or replacing a wire, should the need arise.
Can anyone suggest some solutions that do not include pulling the spar?
