Oily film in the bilge finally led back to the depth transducer which had come loose. Need advice on what to use in reseating the oil bath tank. Should I use a sealant that would be permanent, like 5200, epoxy or liquid steel or go with something flimsy like silicone. How long should an adhesive cure before I can refill it with oil? Quicker the better as I'm without a depth gauge which is why I'm leaning toward epoxy. It'll get a super prep cleaning either way. What type of oil do you refill the tank with? It was clear and thin, almost like mineral oil or baby oil. All input appriciated. Thanks. Michael

Regular checkup and rebonding

Found what I needed at the TackTick website. Applies to nearly all installations of an in-hull transducer. Many sites suggest a regular check up too. Thanks. Michael http://www.tacktick.com/products/userguides/InHullDepthAdaptor.pdf

Ive used fast drying 5200

and you can refill with mineral oil.In a pinch you can use a wax toilet ring to stisk it to the bottom and it reads good. There is a guy at my dock thathad his transducer in wax for 5 years. John
