My original 1971 Trail-Rite trailer decal is likely due for replacement; however, there’s some information on it that I’m struggling to decipher. Can anyone help me identify what the “5800” or “5806” circled in red is referring to?
Thanks!

I don't think it is helpful, but here's my tag. I think they are too different, but just in case it is of value:

No mine is a single axle. And I definitely think that's a 5806, not a 5800, whatever that means

Interesting. I'm trying to understand how your GAWR is 1/2 your GVWR unless it was either dual axle or they rated it for each side of the single axle. I may also be having a gross conceptual error in my understanding of trailer weight ratings.

Might just be the serial number of the trailer, it is next to manufacture date on same line, all load info is in other lines and blocks. Call trail rite and ask re date on plate.

Do those numbers match up with a VIN or serial number on your registration?

They do not. There doesn't appear to be any vin on this trailer or documented anywhere in the registration documents.

My guess would be that the 5806 is a serial number. The trailer probably pre-dates when VINs were required for trailers.

Yep lots of states do not use VIN on trailers just bill of sale, and weight check.
