I have a 1989 Yanmar 1GM in my Vega and it works great and has enough
power for me. However, I have a 3-bladed prop 8" pitch and 12" diameter
- I think the prop really makes a difference. But I saw a 13 hp Beta
marine diesel and it looked about the same size as my 1GM but is 2
cylinder and water cooled. It would be alot smoother than my 1GM and
only weighs a little more. I'd probably go with a Beta marine - it is a
Kubota diesel and Kubotas are excellent diesels.
