I had the YM30 put in my 37C...

when I bought it last year. You are going to LOVE the new engine. I had mine done by a Yanmar dealer in Sausalito, CA (List Marine). While I was at it, I had a new shaft, strut, and stern tube put in at the same time. Everything from the front of the engine to the tip of the prop is new. This set up sure is sweet. By the way, Tom List in Sausalito said that even though it has a glow plug, you won't need it unless you're in the Arctic. I've never used mine and the engine starts with the first touch of the key.

Thanks Dave, good news.

Always like to get confirmation. I guess you did not have a chance to compare it with the old though. Which engine was replaced? Was it dead? What makes it so hard to spend the money is that mine runs so well. Sure, it's a little noisy and vibrates some(you 2QM guys stop laughing) but it has never failed me. Oh well, the deal is done. Time to get to work.

Just bought mine

Just bought my 37 last season.Has the original Y30 in her. Put it in the water Aug 30. The 1 thing I did as a suggestion from our mechanic was to replace the 2 blade prop with a 3 blade prop. Don't know what the 2 blader performed like;but was told that it wouldn't manoeuver as well. She moves beautifully now. lots of power/control and prop walk, but manageable. The engine runs like a charm so far. Put alot of hours on her at the end of the season.
